"He who works with his hands is a laborer.
He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.
He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist."

A Joining of 2 Ohio Folk Art Shows.

Many years ago Rebekah L. Smith began a show titled "A Gathering of Artisans". This show was held in a barn on a historic property in Bath Township, Ohio. In addition to her own wool work and folk painting, her show focused on local and regional artisans working in historically inspired folk art painting, hooked rugs, sampler, textile folk art and bears. Rebekah eventually moved her show to The Boston Township Hall in Peninsula, Ohio to accommodate her growing list of exhibitors.
For 10 years Rebekah ran this successful show until the duties of moving and restoring an early house took over.

At a similar time in a different area of Ohio, Lori Ann Corelis and friend Sharon Andrews began the "From Our Hands" show.  Their show began as a small wholesale show.  The pair had both been exhibiting in Valley Forge, PA at the larger markets and felt a smaller, more intimate show was needed for artisans who produced mostly one of a kind work.  A show where unique shops could purchase original folk art directly from the artisans.  In time seasonal retail shows were added and the pair ran up to 3 shows a year.
As often happens, life changes, family obligations and relocations eventually prevented Sharon and then Lori Ann from running the show.  For 3 years Kathy Wright stepped in and ran the show in Columbus, Ohio. (Kathy now runs the Sauder Rug Hooking event in Ohio)

Fast forward 7 - 8 years.  While exhibiting at another Ohio show, Lori Ann & Rebekah struck up a conversation. A shared love of textiles, folk art, history and antiques was discovered.  They also unearthed a common past of promoting their own shows and the wheels began to turn.
Countless emails, meetings, Skype chats, sleepless nights and phone calls have culminated in the creating of this new show.

We hope you will join us for a show that truly is:
"From Our Hands . . . . and definitely Our Hearts!"

         Lori Ann & Rebekah
